New Business – Proposed Academic Program Updates – MS in Information Science
a)
The increasing need for Librarians gave incentive to propose an adjustment to current Info
Science tracks by credit changes, consolidation of tracks, a newly disaggregated program with
track leading to teaching certification, and additionally offering both programs online.
b)
Questions from the Council made for a dialogue of field experience, assessing the equality of
both the face-to-face and on-line versions, and the role of the School of Education in the
certifying process.
c)
A discussion of the possible impact on other academic units, resources, and finances was
concluded with the statement of assurance from P. Eppard that there are no incremental
effects on any of the mentioned concerns.
d)
The Council requested a correction be made in the proposal’s reference to the BS/MS dual
program. Dr. Eppard agreed to correct the reference to reflect that there are two separate
programs.
e)
Motions and votes were made to approve each program update separately:
