Deactivation of Chemistry 3-2 Program
IT IS HEREBY PROPOSED THAT THE FOLLOWING BE ADOPTED:
1. That the 3-2 Program for BS Chemistry be deactivated.
2. That at this takes effect for the fall 2010 semester.
3. That this proposal be forwarded to President George M. Philip for
approval.

The Department of Chemistry wishes to deactivate (for the time being) the 3-2 Program for B.S. Chemistry.

Explanation of proposal:
A major overhaul of this sparsely populated program would be required in order to make it feasible again. Namely, no
attention has been paid over the years to changes in Chem Engineering curriculum; some courses that are needed at the
potential engineering schools (RPI; Clarkson Univ) are no longer offered here nor are suitable replacements. In fact, RPI
does not seem even to remember that such a program exists. In fact, two of the continuation schools listed (Binghamton
and New Paltz) have no chem engr program currently. Clearly, major discussions would be required to rectify these
circumstances which make advisement well nigh impossible. Thus, we ask for deactivation for the time being; we will
accommodate the remaining couple of students currently in the program.
