UAC Chair’s Report 
(2/22/23, updated 3/7/23)

UAC met last on 2/16 and meets next on 3/21 and again on 4/20 (on ZOOM)

Received word on 2/21 that the President signed the Revised General Education 
Program into law, approved as a bill at the 2/8 Senate meeting. Thank you everyone!

UAC members e-voted to approve the proposed Credit for Prior Learning Courses (UUNI 
252, 352) after 1/19 presentation from, discussion with AVP for Academic Innovation 
Debra Gelinas 

In the 2/16 meeting, following a week-long Curriculum and Honors e-discussion/vote, 
UAC members present unanimously voted to approve 4 concentrations in the Physics 
BSc, with standard program to become the concentration in General Physics, in addition 
to 3 in Computational Physics, Astronomy and Particle Astrophysics, and Bio-Imaging  

Record 600+ undergraduate student petitions reviewed and responded to by the 
Committee on Academic Standing following the fall semester, ranging from petitions 
appealing academic dismissal, and S/U and W dates, which is amazing, concerning, and 
unsustainable; CAS meeting biweekly throughout the spring 2023 semester 

UAC member Erin Baker serves on the Academic Affairs Working Group of the CNSE and 
UAlbany Reunification and provided an update after participating in 2 meetings 

Major Re-registration proposals from Social Welfare, East Asian Studies, Chinese 
Studies, and Japanese Studies are the next to be reviewed on UAC teams
