GAC (Graduate Academic Council) – Laurence Kranich, Chair
At its meeting on April 27, GAC approved three items: (1) a proposal by the School of Business
and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering to add an elective track in
Nanotechnology within the Evening MBA Program, (2) a proposal by the College of Arts and
Sciences, Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences to add a third topic area in
Climate and Environmental Systems for the MS Atmospheric Science degree, and (3) a proposal
by Rockefeller College to modify its MPA Program to include a new course cluster in
Substantive Public Policy Areas. In addition, the Council tabled discussion of a proposed
revision of the shared resource course policy in order to solicit a broad range of inputs. Finally,
the Dean of Graduate Studies provided the Council with a draft plan for a Graduate Student
Support Review, beginning with a University-wide review of doctoral programs.
