THE POSITION PROFILE
When we meet with individuals and groups around campus, we will be asking them to think
though the topics below. This will help us develop a strong position profile, which is much more
than a functional position description.
We want to hear your thoughts. The conversation with you and other stakeholders will help us
develop a concise and thoughtful description of the University's goals and directions as well as a
realistic and enticing picture of the President's challenges, measures of success, and ideal
qualifications.
1) Objectives for the new president. What do you want the new president to accomplish?
What are the desired outcomes for the role and for the University? How will you know
in three to five years that the right person was hired? What will have happened?
2) Qualifications and Experience. Based on the objectives identified, what do you think are
the qualifications and experience of an ideal candidate? What is essential and what might
be helpful?
3) Personal Qualities. What are the personal attributes most important for this role?
4) Source and candidate recommendations. Are there individuals you feel we should
contact in the outreach to identify candidates? We will draw upon our own networks.
However, we also want to tap into yours as well. We would like to receive suggestions of
possible candidates, but just as important, suggestions of good sources who might lead to
strong candidates.
Feel free to e-mail usnamesppczzoli(([1imsearch.com ) we will
be networking for several weeks. It would be most helpful to have some contact
information as well: phone number, e-mail address, or at a very minimum place of
employment.
