LISC Report for Senate Meeting, 12/7/22
LISC met on December 5th, 2022. We approved minutes from the November 12th meeting and
received updates from the Dean of Libraries, ITLAL, and Lindsay Van Berkom, LISC Chair.
Report from the Chair (Lindsay Van Berkom)
•
Resolution from CORE at the upcoming Senate meeting for inclusion in AI initiatives on campus
•
Spring meetings will be scheduled shortly—three meetings, there will be a Doodle poll
•
Open Access Implementation Committee updates will come after February
Report from the Libraries (Carey Hatch)
•
Renovations – Moving ahead with Current Periodicals Room, increased opportunities thanks to gifts
•
Reorganization – A plan deliverable to the Provost is expected in January
•
AI – The Libraries are interested in leveraging space and services to support the AI initiative, willing
to engage LISC for collaboration.
•
Cambridge University Press Transformative Agreement – Significant increase in access, adds an
additional 331 journals. Any faculty member publishing in these journals will not face processing
fees.

Report from ITLAL (Aviva Bower)
•
The restructuring of ITLAL and Ed Tech Services into CATLOE (Center for the Advancement of
Teaching, Learning, and Online Education) occurs on January 2. An email from the Provost’s office
will go out soon and there will be a website FAQ to introduce instructors to the new organization of
the Center.
