UAC Report, April 13, 2022 to University Senate
UAC held a meeting on March 11, 2022 with guests from the Computer Science Department
(Chair Won Namgoong and Administrative Manager Mark Seabury), to present the proposal to
deactivate the CS-MAT BS program. Dean Gilbert Valverde was also present to represent the
Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications pipeline program. UAC had previously
reviewed the proposal and the guests helped clarify the issues surrounding how students
(current and those in the pipeline) would be affected. All students in the pipeline will be able to
complete the degree. We followed up with an electronic vote, but voting was stopped with a
call to discuss at the next meeting.
Electronic votes were held to:
1. Approved a 1-time request to exceed the 12-credit cap on BAMA shared courses for the
School of Public Health proposal to create a combined Public Health BS/MPH program.
These are two existing programs and no new resources are requested to support this
program.
2. Suspend admission to the Neuroscience minor at the request of the program due to lack
of faculty resources to support the program. Students in progress will be able to
complete the program through Spring 2024.
Other business:
Work is ongoing to review SUNY/SED reregistration materials from departments and to
implement changes to majors once approved.
Members of UAC and GAC formed subcommittees to review policies on Shared Resource
Courses and for Combined Programs. Each subcommittee chair will present proposals for
changes to the policies at the UAC meeting April 13. GAC approved each proposal at their last
