The meeting was called to order at 3:39 P.M. in LC·-19 by the Chair,
Kendall Birr.
Chair Birr announced that the purpose of this meeting was to conduct an
election for the Chair-elect and Secretary of the Senate. The Senate
would consider, and, if approval is granted, confirm these nominations at
the May 6 meeting. A curriculum vita was available on each of the six
candidates.
The Chair appointed the following committee to pass out and collect
election ballots: Pat Rogers, Ron Bosco, Anne Weinberg and Steve Gawley
(5. A. President).

Election of Chair-elect an~etaa,
The Chair introduced the candidates for Chair-elect: Donald Birn (History
Department), Wi.lliam Hammond (Mathematics and Statistics) and William
Lanford (Physics Department). He then opened the floor for additional
nominations. Receiving none, nominations were declared closed. The
above-mentioned committee collected and counted the ballots. Donald
Birn was elected Chai.r-elect of the 1985-86 University Senate.

The Chair then introduced the candidates for Secretary: Francine Frank
(Department of I"·Hspanic and Italian Studies), Roman Hedges (Department
of Political Science) and ,John Leva to (School of Business). There were no
nominations from the floor. Ballots were collected and counted by the
appointed committee. A second ballot was necessary to break a tie
between F. Frank and J. Levato. John Leva to was elected Secretary of
the 1985-86 University Senate.
The meeting was adjourned at. 4:02 P.M.
