Senate Bill No.: 0708-16
UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY
STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK
Introduced by: Undergraduate Academic Council
    Graduate Academic Council
Date:
                 April 24, 2008
COMBINED B.A. IN ECONOMICS AND M.A. IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND
POLICY
IT IS HEREBY PROPOSED THAT THE FOLLOWING BE ADOPTED:
1. That the attached proposed adoption of a combined program with a BA in
Economics and a Master of Arts in Public Affairs and Policy be approved by the
University Senate.
2. That this proposal be forwarded to the Interim President George M. Philip for
approval.
3. That the combined program becomes effective for students
admitted to the University for Fall 2008.
Rationale:
This proposal takes advantage of natural overlap and common interests between
Economics and Public Policy, and the likelihood that students will find the combined
degree program advantageous for the educational goals. The combined degree programs
enhance the attractiveness and benefits of our undergraduate programs by providing
students with well-defined career opportunities. They have been constructed to follow the
guidelines and specifications for all such combined programs. Implementation and
approval of these programs will increase the range of choices offered students and
complement the alternatives students already have through approved combined degree
programs involving Public Policy with History and Sociology.
