Update Feb 2 2018.pdf

Congratulations to colleagues in our Department of Information Science in the College of Emergency
Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity on the final New York State approval and registration of a
Master of Science (M.S.) degree program in Information Science School Library! This is an updated program
additionally/newly approved for distance education delivery, leading to NYS certification for graduates as
School Library Media Specialists. Prior to this new registration as a stand-alone program, an existing 41 credit
version was in place at the University for many years as one of five tracks in our M.S. Information Science
program. Formal State approval correspondence for the new “disaggregated” program is attached for your
reference, along with the program proposal itself. The faculty are now authorized to promote and deliver this
newly registered 36 credit graduate program to students.

| ask that responsible colleagues receiving this notice, as appropriate to responsibilities, take actions as
warranted to establish the new M.S. program listing in the Grad Bulletin and University administrative
systems. As illustrated in the proposal, it is expected that enrollees will complete the 36 credit curriculum
over 2 years of study. Thank you and successful implementation to all involved.
