Proposal 2011-1920
Dear Provost Lavallee:

| write in response to your correspondence of September 30, 2011, requesting registration of an
Advanced Certificate (ADV CRT) program in Online Learning and Teaching, to be offered by the State
University of New York at Albany in both the standard and distance education formats.

| am pleased to inform you that on the basis of our review, the program detailed on the attached
listing from the Inventory of Registered Programs is registered for general education purposes, under
Subchapter A of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (Chapter I! of Title 8 of the Official
Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations of the State of New York) until September 1, 2012. After
that date, registration will be extended annually until the Department's next review is conducted.

Please note that the attached Inventory listing records this advanced certificate program as
ineligible for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Aid for Part-time Study (APTS). Programs of less
than one academic year’s duration (fewer than 24 semester hours) are ineligible for these State student
financial aid programs. Additionally, APTS awards are available for undergraduate study only. The
program is eligible for Vietnam Veterans Tuition Awards (VVTA).

New registration is required for any existing curriculum in which major changes are made that
affect its title, focus, design, requirements for completion, or mode of delivery. Therefore, | ask that you
contact this office prior to initiating a significant change in this program.

We wish you and your colleagues success with the program.

Sincerely,

Barbara D. Meinert
