Dr. Grace Wang

Interim Provost

State University of New York
State University Plaza
Albany, NY 12246

Dear Dr. Wang:

This letter is in response to the letter sent by Dr. Alexander N. Cartwright on November
4, 2014 to delete the B.S. and M.S. programs in Nanoscale Engineering and Nanoscale
Science at the University at Albany. While the attached B.S, programs are scheduled to
be deleted in January 2019 and the M.S. programs are scheduled to be deleted in
January 2018, we would like to request an extension.

We continue to serve students in these two programs, including cross-registered
students from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. We have 47 students currently scheduled to
graduate in Spring 2018 with an additional student expected in Fall 2018 and Spring
2019. As a result, we are requesting an extension until August 2021 to ensure that ail of
these matriculated students complete their studies. Should you have any questions
about this request please feel free to contact Ann Marie Murray at
amurray2@albany.edu.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and to helping us ensure a pipeline for
success for current University at Albany students.

Sincerely,

James R. Stellar
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
