This is really great programmatic news!
Congratulations to colleagues in our Department of Geography and Planning in the College of Arts &
Sciences on the final New York State approval and registration of a Master of Science (M.S.) Degree Program
in Geographic Information Science! Formal State approval correspondence is attached for your reference,
along with the program proposal itself. The faculty are now authorized to promote and deliver this new
program to students.
| want to bring to your attention the exceptional work of Prof. James Mower to author and shepard the
program proposal through a very long and drawn out development process on behalf of his departmental
colleagues and the University. He really deserves a star.
| ask that responsible colleagues receiving this notice, as appropriate to responsibilities, take actions as
warranted to establish the new M.S. program listing in the Grad Bulletin and University administrative
systems. As illustrated in the proposal, it is expected that enrollees will complete the 36 credit curriculum
over 1 & 1/2 - 2 years of study if studying on a full-time basis. Thank you and successful implementation to all
involved.
