VIRGINIA TRIPP AND JOHN
HAWKINS WIN SPEAKING PRIZES

The winners of the prize speae
ing contest which was held last Mon=
day were Virginia Tripp and John

Hawkins, both of the seventh grade.
Virginia gave "An Inventor's Wife"

and John Hawkins gave "Casey at the
Pat."

The prizes, five dollars in
6eld, offered by Miss Wheeling, will
be awarded at Commencement.

FRESHMAN PARTY TO BE EELD
NEXT FRIDAY

The Freshman party will be held
next Friday night in the old gym.
The committee in charge of the
orchestra is David Ronan, Walter
Bates and Bill Norton. ‘They are
planning to have Bok Hoffman's
Crestwood Club orchestra. The comm
ittee in c har,e of the refreshments
include Fred Carr, Doris Shultes and
Bill Norton.

Barbara Birchenough and Stan
Morton are in charge of the decore
ations. Ray Hotaling is in charge
of the arrangements. The party will
be held from 8-11.

DRAMATIC CLUB TOC PRESENT PLAY

Next Thursday, the Dramatics
clus will present a play in assembly
called "Breakfast." The characters
are as follows:

BASEBALL POSITIONS ARE OPEN

The Junior High School will have
to give up their hopes of a team if
more boys do not come out and try-out
for open positions. The Coach stated
that there is always more room on. the
varsity for those who want to worke
This is a good opportunity to get
experience, so all boys ought to
come out.

ELECTIONS HELD YESTERDAY!

Elections took place yesterday
for the presidency of the student
council for the year 1933-1954.
Professor Sayles gave a talk on what
the incoming president of the Junior
High School Student Council should
knows. He then introduced Dr. Fred--
ricks, and Dr, Fredricks introduced
the campaign managers. Royer Orten,
‘he campaign mana,er for Foster Sipp-

erly, gave the good points of bis
nominee, and told all the things that
his nominee would do if elected. His
platform was as follows: he wishes to
raise money by giving more plays, ané
to put more murals in the library. He
also said he wanted to have dancing at
different times during the week. He
finished his speech by saying he woul?
do his best if he were elected.

Dr, Fredricks then introduced
Robert Gilson, the campaign manager
for Thomis Parran. Hobert Gilson alsc
pointed out what Thom.s had done for
the school. YFurran believed in more

social work in the school. He also
gave other things he believed would
improve the school»

NEW STUDENTS FOR MILNE

Milne Juniors will see 54 new
-faces next fall. Last Saturday the
seventh and eighth graders hed their
tests as did the new seventh graders,
This Saturday the unfortunates will
heave some more tests. These tests
ame being given by Dr. South of
State College. There will be about
65 seventh graders, 10 new eighth
éreders and 9 brand new ninth grade:

SHOP WORK COMPLETED

Mir. Raymond announced that all
projects that the seventh and eighth
grede boys have been mking through-
out the year are completed. He also
