In a game which featured seven ties and six lead changes, the
Greyhounds moved back on top, 41-39, on Moore's fastbreak layup with
16:52 remaining. Darrin Jahnel (Schalmont H.S.), who scored 19 points,
buried a three-pointer from the left wing on his team's next possession,
and the Danes never trailed again.
Leading 49-48, Albany tallied 16 of the game's next 18 points to take
command. Andre Duncan, who was one of four players in double figures
with 16, hit a three-point shot to start the streak, before Cetnar's steal and
layup provided the Great Danes with a 65-50 cushion.
“| was not sure we could generate that kind of offense," said Albany
coach Scott Hicks. "Assumption had me worried that they would score 100
points, because they shoot about 50 percent from the field and 40 percent
from the three-point line. (Tom) McGoldrick was excellent off the dribble
against their sagging defense, and helped us break their pressure tactics."
Albany, which has won seven of its last eight, moves into tomorrow's
championship at Pepsi Arena (8:00 p.m.).
