1 victory @ SHU... Forrester has 16 career goals and
nine assists... the Great Danes are 5-1-2 in their last
eight conference matches dating back to last Octo-
ber... freshman goalkeeper Dean deFreitas has been
pushed into a starting role after Mike Cooper was
injured in Thursday’s match with Binghamton... Cooper
is out indefinitely with a dislocated shoulder... On the
women's ledger, freshman Brett Wolfson missed a
non-conference match with AIC due to a strep throat,
but cameback to score one goal in Sunday’s loss to
SHU. Michelle Brogan scored her first goal since the
1994 season... Brogan missed all but two matches in

FRANKLIN PIERCE

After an early season floss to Lynn niversity
ranked), the #2 ranked Lady Ravens won two games
this week against Assumption (6-2), and Bridgeport (6-
0)... Pauliina Miettinen had four goals, three assists in
two games... freshman Courtney Fratello scored her
first two goals of her collegiate career in a 6-0 win at
UB. The Ravens have outscored their opponents 263-
12 over the past 44 games...The men (3-1-0)
squeaked out a win at Bridgeport (2-1 OT) last Satur-
day... Seamus Donnelly scored both goals for the
Ravens...The FPC-Dowling mens’ game was re-
scheduled to Sunday, October 13th at FPC... The men
will embark on a two -game road trip at the National
Soccer Classic in Rochester, MI. FPC will face nation-
ally ranked Grand Canyon and Qakland in the tourney.
Junior Michael Cancado led the River Hawks with two
goals in which UML went 1-2 and earned their first

Jenn King leads the Lady Purple Knights (2-1) with

contests... The women will play Molly College on
October 17th, Tuesday at Seaside Park. Game time is
3:30 p.m... The UB men almost pulled off the upset of
the year, losing to Franklin Pierce 2-1 in overtime on
Saturday in Bridgeport... The Seawolves of Stony
Brook will visit UB this Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.

KEENE STATE

KSC Coach Ron Butcher is two wins shy of his 350th
Owls victory... Chris Brunette’s (Manchester, N.H.)
goal, his first collegiate tally proved to be the game
winner against Plymouth State... Matt Andrulott made
his first collegiate staer in goal against New Haven.
The sophomore from North Eastham, Mass. missed
the 1995 season with a knee injury... Lady Owls’
Kristen Daly (Niskayuna, N.Y.) recoreded her third
consecutive shutout with the Owls 2-0 victory over
New Haven on Saturday... Amy Zombeck (Claremont,
N.H.) has been a valuable addition to the Owls team, a
transfer from Wheaton College, Zombeck had two
assists in saturday’s win over the Chargers. The Lady
Owls 4-0 record is the best start since the 1993

Season.

NEW HAMPSHIRE COLLEGE

Dean Sewell has moved into 10th place on the school’s
all-time scoring list with 82 points (27gls, 28 asts)... The

teams last week, but will most likely fall from the rankings. The Great
Danes lost to New Hampshire College, ranked fifth nationally, and
Dowling, the No. 13 team in the latest NSCAA Division II poll. Kevin
Koscielniak returned from a rib injury, after missing five games since
the season opener. Goalkeeper Mike Cooper (dislocated shoulder) and
defender Marc Rosamilia (knee) are out indefinitely.

Women's Soccer: The Great Danes have dropped five straight, and
were outscored 12-0 in three matches last week.

Wolfson was named to the All-Tournament team at the Hampton-Inn Kickoff Classic at St. Michael’s College. She

Nethorlands) Van Straleri was instrumentai in win over visiting Ashland as the Ravens allowed only one shot on

Senior midfielder Jomo Forrester and sophomore

defender Russell DiBenedetto were chosen to the

all-tournament team at C.W. Post’s Long Island
Classic... In women’s soccer Brett Wolfson (2
goals, 1 assist), junior midfielder Irene Elia
(game-winner in OT vs. Castleton State) and
Chris Tokarz were named to the all-tournament
team at the St. Michael’s/Hampton Inn Kickoff
Classic.

The Lady Ravens lost their first match (3-2) in 40
games to Lynn University at the Umbro-Days Inn
Classic at Franklin Pierce College. The Lady
Ravens are the two-time defending champions.
The FPC women crushed Ashland 6-0 in the
tourney opener. The FPC men are currently 2-1.
The men lost a heartbreaker to national power
Tampa 2-1 on 9/6. Top scorer Seamus Donnelly
did not play in the Tampa game because he

received a red-card in the 1-0 victory against St.
Leo on 9/2

Michael Cancado, a junior forward recorded his
first collegiate hat trick in 3-2 victory over
Merrimack, scoring all three goals in the second
half, including game-winner with 23 minutes
remaining. UML’s win over Merrimack was the
first since 1986. Cancado has nearly equalled his
goal total of the season (4) with his hat trick
against Merrimack. The UML women lost (0-2) a

tough non-league contest to Bentley College to
open the season.

Men’s and Women’s Soccer

Home season-doubleheader opener
vs. Franklin Pierce on September 14
@ 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Lady Owls currently 3-0 are coming off two
shut-out victories against assumption (5-0) and
Eastern Connecticut (2-0). Senior Sharon Currie
leads the team with four goals and one assist.
Netminder Kristen Daly has two shutouts with a
0.64 GAA. The men are currently 1-0, defeating
Rowan College 2-1. Newcomer Charlie Martin
scored both goals for the Owls. KSC’s game vs.
Montclair State was suspended due to playing
conditions.

The Penmen are currently 2-0 on the season.
Junior midfielder Dean Sewell totaled 14 points in
NHC's first two games. Sewell netted all five (5-0)
goals against Ashland and added a goal and two
assist in a 5-1 victory over St. Anselm. NHC is
currently ranked #2 in the Northeast Regional Poll
as of Sept. 9th... The NHC Penwomen are
currently 1-0-1 on the season. Freshman Hanna
Stjernerg and senior veteran Heather Swabowicz
lead the team with four points a piece.

The Chargers men are currently 2-1 on the season
and ranked #8 in the Northeast Regional Poll. UNH is
lead by junior midfielder Joe Oakes. The Wallingford,
Conn., native has scored five goals in two games...
The regionally ranked Charger women are currently
2-0 on the season. NECC Player of the Week,
Christine Huber led UNH with four goals in four
games. Alycia Kowal also has two goals for the
Chargers. Tne women play Bentiey Coiiege on
Wednesday at 7 p.m., and open the NECC season at
Keene State on Saturday, September 14th. Game
time is Noon. The men will play KSC at 2 p.m.

The men (3-0), currently ranked #1 in the country and
the defending National Champions are coming off two
Division | wins. On 9/7, the Owls defeated the Univer-
sity of Hartford 2-0. SC continued its dominance,
defeating Central Connecticut 4-2 on 9/8. Itai Mor
leads the team in scoring with two goals and four
assists. Rick Koczak, the NECC Defensive Player of
the Week has recorded two shutouts with a 0.69
GAA. SCSU will host the Autumn Classic on Friday
and Saturday. The Owls will play West Virginia
Wesleyan on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and face national-
power Oakland on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The women
will begin play in its inaugural season at New Haven
on Thursday, September 19th

Lowell on Saturday, September 14th. The Stony

College Invitational... Jomo Forrester increased his career
numbers to 18 goals and 11 assists... Kevin Koscielniak who

losing streak with a 2-0 victory over state-rival LeMoyne...
Michelle Brogan’s goal also ended a scoreless streak of
