C.W. POST DEFEATS ALBANY 3-0 IN LONG ISLAND CLASSIC

BROOKVILLE, NY -- For the second straight day, three different players scored for the
C.W. Post men’s soccer team as the Pioneers captured a 3-0 win over Albany Sunday afternoon
at C.W. Post Soccer Field.

The win improved C.W. Post's record to 2-0 on the season after Saturday's 3-0 win over
American International College. Albany falls to 2-2.

Junior forward Matt Tickle (Liverpool, England) opened the scoring for the Pioneers
when he knocked in a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Geoff Thompson (Durham,
England). C.W. Post extended the lead to 2-0 just before the half when junior midfielder Srdjan
Marinkovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) headed in a comer kick from Kevin Koehn (Bethpage,
NY). The Pioneers played defensive-minded soccer through most of the second half, but added
an insurance goal when sophomore midfielder Paul Roderick (Liverpool, England) gathered in a

© long pass from Danny Longo (Hicksville, NY) and beat Albany goalie Mike Cooper (Stony
Brook, NY) from 18 yards out.

Ed Jacobsen (Farmingdale, NY) made two saves to record his second consecutive

shutout. Cooper had three saves for Albany.

In the first game on Sunday, Concordia College (2-0), which defeated Albany 1-0 in
overtime on Saturday, left little doubt as they cruised to a 6-0 win over American International
College (0-2). Chris Emukah (Piscataway, NJ), who scored the game-winner in overtime
yesterday, tallied two first-half goals to help stake his club to a 4-0 halftime lead. Emukah was
named the Long Island Classic's Most Valuable Player, while C.W. Post and Concordia were
declared co-champions of the tournament.

C.W. POST MEN'S SOCCER OPENS 1996 SEASON WITH 3-0 WIN

BROOKVILLE, NY -- Sophomore forward Geoff Thompson (Durham, Eng.) opened
the scoring with a goal 5:30 into the first half and senior forward Mike Longo (Hicksville, NY)
and freshman midfielder Brian McNeill (Patchogue, NY) scored goals 80 seconds apart as the
C.W. Post men's soccer team opened the 1996 season with a 3-0 win over American International
College in the first round of the Long Island Classic. . :

Thompson scored his goal when he one-timed a pass from freshman defenseman Nick
Fitzpatrick (Newburgh, NY), who made a long run up the left sideline. Longo extended the
lead to 2-0 when he gathered in a loose ball and put in a shot from 18 yards out with just under
10 minutes remaining in the first half, McNeill scored an almost identical goal with 8:30 left in
the half to close out the scoring.

Junior goalkecpcr Ed Jacobsen (Farmingdale, NY) made two saves to record his first
shutout with the Pioneers. Tom Croyle (Somers, CT) made 16 saves in a losing effort for AIC,
which was outshot 31-6 on the day.

The Pioneers will play Albany on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 on the second day of the
Long Island Classic. The Great Danes fell 1-0 to Concordia in overtime, when sophomore
forward Chris Emukah (Piscataway, NJ) tapped in a long through ball from senior defender
Dan Fisher (Franklin Square, NY) with 50 seconds left in the first overtime session. The goal
was scored with Concordia down a man after sophomore forward Joe Streich (Farmingdale,
NY) was ejected after picking up his second yellow card 5:00 into the first overtime.

Sophomore goalkeeper Guillermo Gatti (Buenos Aires, Argentina) made nine saves to

CORTLAND, NY -- Junior forward Kevin Kosclelniak (Saratoga Springs) scored 35 seconds into the
contest to give the University at Albany a 1-0 victory at SUNY Cortland Saturday evening in the season
opener for both clubs.

Koscielniak tallied from six yards away, converting a pass from senior Gene Dove (New City/Clarkstown
South). Sophornore Mike Cooper (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) made four saves to register the shutout
for the Division || Great Danes. Cortland's Terry Moss (Wolcott/North Rose-Wolcott) made three saves
