Dr. John le Childs, of Princeton, N, J., professor emeritus of
Columbia University, will speak at the first meeting of Bpsilon Omicron
Campus Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, professional fraternity, at State University- ]
College at Albany, The meeting, to be preceded by dinner, will be held
Wednesday, July i1, ai the Tom Sawyer Motor Inn,
Dre Childe ie distinguished lecturer in educational philosophy on
~s faculty at State College, Considered one of the nation's authorities
in tier field, Dr. Childs was professor of philosophy of education at Columbia's
Teachers College for 17 years, At Columbia he received the Butler medal ané
the Kilpatrick avard.
Presiding at the meeting will te Dr, Morris I, Borger, associate professor
of education at State College, Dinner will be served at 6115 pom. and the
business mooting is set for 6130.

A mmber of leading educators will participate in the Curriculum Workehop
for School Administrators to be held July 16-20 at State University College at
Albeny. Co-directors of the workshop, planned by the college's education depart-
ment, are Joseph Leese, professor of education at the host school, and Howard
Goff, Eest Greenbush Superintendent of Schools.
At the luncheon mecting Monday, Carl Hansen, Superintendent of Schools for
the District of Columbia, will be the speaker. In 1956 Dr. Henson introduced the
multi-level curriculum, the famovs "Four-Track Plen" now uscd by many of the netion’s
echools. He will talk about a program to teach fundamental skills and concepts.
Ths following day John 1. Childs, profeceor of educational philorophy, Columbia
University Teachers College, will discuss "The Resurgence of the Subjecte, Progressive
Education and John Dewey." Dr. Childs is a member of State College's ewmmer faculty.
“byle Ashby, asristant executive secretary of the National Education Association,
will address the workehop group at noon on Wednesday. His topie will be "Education
and the Netional Interest.” On tho concluding days, luncheon speakers will be Mes
Dorothy Fraser, professor of education st The City University of Now York, Thureday,
and Harry Porter, Provost {tate University, on Friday. Miss Frarer, pact president of
the National Counea for the Social Studies, will epeak om "Curriculum Decisions for
the Sixties." Mr. Porter's subjoet will be "University, Rescerch, and Service in Pyblic
School Immrovemont .”
About 35 New York Stete school administrators will attend the vorkshop, with
headquarters at State College’s Brubacher Hall,
