An Evaluation
Now that the
greater number of
Rivalry events have
been completed, we
can observe a bit
more objectively
both the freshman
and sophomore
classes as they
gather their respec-
tive forces in an
attempt to reach the
zenith of Rivalry,
Campus Night, in a
blaze of glory.
Having been given
the opportunity to
pause for a moment,
we cannot but re-
flect upon the ree
sults of this system
as we heve seen
them.
Rivalry as we all
know or should know
by this time, is de-
goal is arrived at
through a series of
carefully planned
events many of which
are held in competi-
tion with the sopho-
more class. But as
we subjectively ana-
lyze the purpose and
results of Rivalry,
we are forced to re=
cognize other re-
sults, other end
goals of the system
which are of note-
worthy significance.
We are finally
beginning to dis-
cover in just how
many ways we have
actually benefitted
from participation
in this program. We
have been afforded
the opportunity to
meet and compete
with the members of
the sophomore class
ina most pleasant
manner.

It must be noted
that most of the of-

the case in this

very successful. 4

The rally staged
on Monday. night on
Dorm Field Could
have been the best
yet presented by the
Red Devils. But in-
stead of 750 Satan
agents there were
75. Exactly ten per
cent of the “rare

Could it be that
they think we have
elready won Rivalry?
If that is all we
whole
freshmen
need do, then we
have missed the
point of Riv-
alry. Rivalry
should give ius a
chance to meet each
other as well as up=
perclassmen. It
should give uS a
sense of unity: as
well as provide a
method for spotting
potential leaders.
Could another reason
be that we have lost
the leadership of
someone who had
"carried the ball"?
We all know who that
person is, and we
all know that it's
our own fault that
he is no longer pro-
viding those "rahs",
