Background

Scope and Content:

This collection is made up of Gould's personal and professional papers, with a focus on his stage career. These include playbills, scripts, photographs, audiovisual recordings, press clippings and promotional material on films and stage productions that Gould was involved in. This collection includes biographical files, personal correspondence, scrapbooks and copies of Gould's academic writing, including a master's thesis he wrote at Cornell University. Also included are speeches that Gould delivered on his dramatic work.

Biographical / Historical:

Harold Gould '47 was an accomplished actor of the stage and screen. A Capital Region native, Gould graduated from the State College for Teachers after serving in World War II. After graduation, Gould pursued the study of theater at Cornell University before taking on numerous roles on television, the stage and the big screen. His credits include films such as The Sting, as well as appearances on television shows including Golden Girls, Rhoda, Hawaii Five-O and Hogan's Heroes. Before his death in 2010, Gould made more than 200 appearances on television and film and had appeared in more than one hundred stage plays.

Acquisition information:
All items in this collection were transferred to the University Libraries, M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives by Harold Gould in 2006.
