Be it herby proposed that the following be enacted:
I. WHEREAS, The University at Albany and all school campuses, affiliations, and entities that utilize 1400
Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12222 herby referred to as “The University” are in a unique position to offer
all undergraduate students financial compensation that permits the success of said organizations, and individuals
who are working for the University; and
Il. WHEREAS, it is fair and just to receive adequate compensation for their efforts and work, that would allow
them to live and survive on their fiscal compensations.
[fl. WHEREAS, One third of college students are food insecure, and the price of having physiological needs
(food, warmth, water, housing and rest) and safety needs (such as security, both physically, emotionally and
financially) are paramount to human success and without human success, students physiological and mental
health is as a high risk;
lil. WHEREAS, adequate financial compensation, should not be below minimum-vage Livable Wage within
New York State and is vital for undergraduates to be able to perform all campus responsibilities to their full
extent; and not prevent a barrier to education; and,
IV. WHEREAS, supporting this can help eradicate stigma surrounding the university as well as make it visible
that all students financial needs and well-being should be acknowledged; and
V. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the University alongside administration explore the idea, with the
actionable items of meeting mintmum-vage Livable Wage requirements for Student Association officers before
the end of Fall of 2019; and,
VI. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That University at Albany Student Association and the committee
Community Engagement and Outreach will hold a town hall meeting to discuss possible solutions and other
pertinent issues with regards to this matter; and
VIII. THEREFORE MAY IT BE FINALLY RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to Dr. Havidan
Rodriguez, President of the University at Albany, Dr. Michael Christakis, Vice President of Student Affairs, Mr.
John Giarrusso, Associate Vice President for Facilities Management, D Chief Diversity officer, Director of
campus Center Management, Pamela Alexander, Noelle Chaddock Chief Diversity Officer SUNY, Director for
Student Activities and the SUNY Board of Trustees
