McCracken — this is to be an update to the 500 update office
hours. It was pretty outdated.
Simon — They are questioning the legality of this meeting

1. Salazar - If someone objects to the meeting, we will
cancel it.

2. McCracken — I understand this is within your power. ’m
not questing the legality. But I did it disrespectful that I
emailed you yesterday and it wasn’t done. We could’ve
done this earlier but nonetheless I will argue on the bill

McCracken - 513.9.1.2 — We felt this was too broad considering
the latest decisions by senate to add more positions to the
budget. All 4 positions, Senate Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary,
and Comptroller receive a stipend but are not members of the
Executive branch. It was a little vague. We wanted to revamp
the language to account for the separation. For all branches, if
you are receiving a budgeted stipend at or over $1,000, you
shall complete 10 hours. We decided to say “budgeted for
$1,000” so it would be the pre-tax stipend as opposed to the
number that is actually on the paycheck. We want these
positions to hold some sort of meeting if they are getting a
stipend. We have talked about this before as a board—how little
can we pay someone and make them come to the office? I was,
once upon a time ,not a stipended officer and I still did office
hours on my own time. You don’t have to have a bylaw to
Il.

recommend office hours; you should take it upon yourself. The
language would also clarify the posting of the positions-- if
you’re a director, you can be any student and hold that position.
If you want to be the Chair of the Senate or committees you
must be a Senator first, so there is no reason to advertise that
externally to the general public-- students wouldn’t be able to
hold that position.
