This collection includes correspondence, biographical materials, offprints, and data notebooks on experiments on the absorption of x-rays.
Biographical / historical:

C. Luther Andrews was born in Berkshire, New York on May 6, 1908. Berkshire was educated at Cornell University where he recieved his PhD in 1937. Andrews began teaching physics at the State College for Teachers in 1931, and eventually became the chairman of the department from 1944-1969. In 1976, Andrews was awarded the rank of distingushed teaching professor, and recieved the Robert Milikan Award in 1977 for his dedication to his students.

Andrews' research focused on microwave optics and he wrote various publications and books about microwaves. Andrews was also a consultant to the General Electric Research Labratory from 1943-1976. Luther died on January 20, 1996 in Orono, Maine.

Materials were donated to the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections Archives, yet little acquisition documentation exists.
