" regret te tell you that the recently renovated barn on the Mohawk Campus
was totally destroyed by fire early Sunday morning. The entire structure
was leveled by the disaster and all contents were destroyed. We ere
fortunate that the colonial farmhouse (the Mohawk Activities Center) was
aot damaged by the intense heat except for some minor blistering of the
paint. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Clean-up activities are beginning thie morning as you are reading thia
document and Mr. Gary Jones and I agree that immediate steps are to

be taken toward the building of a new structure. When the debrie is
cleared within the next two days, we will see more clearly the true
condition of the foundation and concrete floor. By all outside appearances
at this time we assume that the foundation and floor can be used again,
although the Nleor is damaged tc some degree.

the Mohawk Campus will remain open as planned, although the lose of
ig structure will place some limitations on the use of that portion of
che Mohawk Campus.

:t ia ol hope that you and other members of the Unive reity community
, will centinue tc use and enjoy the facilities of the Mohawk Campua during
