COVID-19 Cases:
1. Total confirmed cases (global) = 2,622,571 (up 25% since last week)
2. Total confirmed cases (U.S.A.) = 842,319 (up 31% since last week)
3. Total confirmed cases (New York) = 257,216 (up 16% since last week)
Current Situation at UAlbany
1. The University is continuing to adapt to the long-term impact of COVID-19 on
academics, research, international programs, and overall University operations
2. University faculty, staff, and students have risen to the challenge of shifting to remote
learning through the end of the semester—operations are proceeding smoothly
3. Several departments across campus are contributing research, equipment, and
expertise to support the State and local response to COVID-19 (#OneUAlbany)
4. 215 students remain on campus due to extenuating circumstances
a. These students are not permitted to leave campus on their own—a shuttle
service has been established for students to purchase essentials (e.g.,
groceries, medication, basic supplies)
b. The University has extended the option to these students to stay on campus
over the summer—no other summer housing will be offered.
5. New York State is on PAUSE through at least May 15 (extended by Governor Cuomo
today), please continue to monitor UAlbany email for human resources updates
6. Six UAlbany research proposals have been awarded COVID-19 SUNY Seed Funding

Weekly Key Activities and Events
1. The University is increasingly focused on long-term planning and recovery, including
courses of action for the fall semester.
2. The Academic Workgroup has developed and shared policy guidance on faculty
support to students in a wide variety of areas
3. Based on a faculty survey on Final Examination needs, the Academic Workgroup is
prioritizing support resources across campus
4. The University has cancelled Fall 2020 programs in South Africa, Australia, and New
Zealand due to upcoming deadlines
5. The Research Workgroup has continued to share COVID-19-related research
opportunities and assist faculty with submitting proposals (link to site)
6. Over 180 students are receiving support from the Student Emergency Fund
7. The University is offering a low-cost option for students to remove belongings from
campus, working with a moving company
SUNY Administration Actions
1. SUNY launched @SUNYTogether fundraising efforts in response to COVID-19 crisis

2. SUNY Chancellor officially notified SUNY Campus Presidents of the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reimbursement process and that SUNY
System will be the coordinator of data collection

New York State Priorities and Actions
1. State has received a 75% disaster declaration, appeal submitted for a 100%
declaration.
2. Priorities:
a. Monitor alternate care facilities and provide support and on-site testing
b. Continue to distribute test kits from NYS DOH
c. Fatality management continues
