Today we Inspected and accepted beneflelal occupany of units "E" and UF
In the Indian Quadrangle, exclusive of the basement and sxterlor, These two halls
have already been completely furnished and are present|y ready for the acceptance
of students. Although the basement Is not yet completed, we have agreement to use
laundry rooms tn these units, and steps have already been taken to Install the
washer and dryer equipment.
Although units "G" and "H" (the last two units of the low rise) were not
accepted, we did regelve agreement of the Central Office, the Dormitory Authority
and the contractor to permit us to start moving furniture Into those units, includ=
Ing the dining room, once the punch Ilst fs completed, This Is expected to be
Wednesday of next week, ~ T.@. 18 August. Formal acceptance of the units will occur
a few days thereafter.
Apart from the above, | have assurances from the Central Office and the
Dormitory Authority that "We are golng to put students In here for the opening of
the fall semester."
The kitchen and the dining halt were atso given close scrutiny, and
several unfinished aspects of the kitchen were considered In detall, Mostly they
are tag ends and none of them are considered to need more than one week for
completion. This will render the kitchen fully operational and completely usable.
This belng the case, all parties agreed that we should plan to serve meals there
for the opening of the semester, the first meal scheduled for 30 August. Mr. Finke
of Food Service was present for the entire Inspection and discusslon and understands
this. We have agreement among all principals for Mr. Finke to go In next week, as
goon as Johnson Restaurant completes thelr final washup, to start food service
preparatory work such as bringIng In food, kitchen utenst!s, china, etc., to make
ready for the 30 August 0: food service, August 26 and 27 Is planned for the complete
kitchen demonstration of all of the apparatus in the kitchen by vendors, as prescribed
under the terms of the contract.

so that they may assume thelr respective responsibl i itles for the occupancy, maln=
tenance and operation of the above fact! ities.
