DATE: 3 December, 1965
FROM: Walter M. Tisdale
TO: President Evan R. Collins

SUBJECT: Campus Progress Report No. 65

The following agreements were reached with respect to occupancy of remaining
units in the Colonial Quad at the job meeting which was conducted at the architect's
Field Office on 2 December, 1965.

Units "A" and "B"

1. Units "A" ond "B" both due to be oceupied by men. Both units will be
sufficiently complete on 13 December for us to commence moving in furniture, using
this entire week, 13 - 17 December, for this purpose. The moving of the students into
these units will occur on Saturday, 18 December, as coordinated with the Vice President
for Student Affairs. Window washing and floor cleaning in these units is slated to be
completed next week. The Dormitory Authority will attempt to have draperies and carpets
installed as soon as windows and floors have been cleaned.

2. Telephones may be installed any time now so that all phones will be in
operation by 18 December. If these cannot be completed, at least a sprinkling of
telephones should be in service for emergency uses (Ben Comi, please note and implement)

3. Washers and dryers will be installed in the laundry rooms as soon as
possible and should be completed by the 18th of December, if at all possible. Machines
should be completely wired before being taken to the dormitory, to avoid any aggravation
of any electrical union strike.

4. The Plant Superintendent's department will need approximately two days after
the students have been vacated from the Thruway Motel during which to evacuate dormitory
furniture. (Ben Comi, please note when terminating motel contract)

5. Cyclone fences along the east side of podium walk leading to units "A" and
"B" will be erected by the Dormitory Authority.

Units "C" end "D"

1. Turnover date for these units is now set for 15 January, 1966. This will
allow a couple of ‘weeks during which these units may be draped, carpeted and furnished,
to make it ready for occupancy, beginning with the second semester on or about 7 February.
Necessary moves of students from residences into these units should be coordinated
directly between the Director of Residences and the Plant Superintendent.

2. Inasmuch as the contractor has work to complete on the Tower and in units
"a" and "H", he must be given access through the south sally-port, and student cross-
traffic carmot be permitted ot this point between units "C" and "D". This will. mean
that units "C" and "D" will have to be entered from units "B" and "BI" respectively,
keeping the doors locked at the south sally port.

3. The north podium walk will be completed, to provide access to these units
and will connect to the podium walks along the east and west tiers.

Kitchen ~ Dining Hall

1. Owing to the substitution of Units "Cc" and "D" for "G" and "H" for
living quarters, the only portion of "G" and "H" which we will receive this winter
will be the kitchen ~ dining hall. Present forecast for the completion of this
unit is currently set for 30 January, 1966. I consider this date to be somewhat
optimistic, possibly by one to two weeks, and in addition, we must allow one ad~
ditional week for carpeting of the dining hall before we could contemplate its
usage. Thus, it would seem that a more realistic date would be the 28th of
February, to commence feeding in this dining hall. Attempts are being made to
improve this date, but I am skeptical about any improvement, and it would be
dangerous to plan on it.

2. The entrance to the dining hall will be afforded along the podium
walk, along the south side of "G" and "H".
