STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT ALBANY
1400 Washington Avenue, Albany, N.Y. 12222
DATE: 29 October 1973
TO: Vice President John W. Hartley
Administration Building - Room 326
FROM: Mr. Walter M, Tisdale
Service Building "A" = Room 103
SUBJECT: Campus Progress Report No. 230
Exterior Stair and Podium Paving Completion
Work on the repair of exterior stairs and podium paving
throughout. the campus has now been completed.
Stair repair included replacement of damaged treads and
platforms, plus application of waterproofing to traffic surfaces and
mortar joints to. prevent further deterioration.
Podium paving at Dutch and Colonial Quadrangles was restored
to proper elevations, eliminating what had become a hazardous condition
The condition of mortar at stairways was found to be better
than expected, and some restoration work originally anticipated turned
out to be unnecessary, Rather than take a credit for deleted work
which would disappear into the State's general fund, we have arranged
for the contractor to install some additional podium paving at the
main entryways to the dormitories. This work will ease pedestrian
access, and eliminate further damage to the planting beds which have
been trampled by persons straying off the existing paving.
