Untt "C" (Mahtean Hall « Indflan Quadrangle).
An Inspeetion was made today by the unders Ign saad representatives of the Dormitory
Authority, the architect and the contractor. Mahican Hall was In a higher state of
readiness than were the two previous units accepted last September, As a result of the
Inspection, beneflelal oecupaney was considered feastble, and the following parts of the
bullding will be turned over to the University effective tomerrow, 23 December 1970:
{. First, Second and Third floors, excluding the lobby area and offices,
2. Secondary hot water heating system and automatic hot water system.
3. Electrical system and necessary power penels,
The aceeptance, of course, was subject to a punch Ist, which has been given to
the contractor for completian,
By earlier agreement, preliminary steps have been taken by the Plant Department
to do a final cleaning of the eccupled areas, and to move tn furniture, all of which ts
on hand. Necessary fire provistons have been met and a timited number of telephones are
being Installed,
The above provisos will enable the residence people to honor their comltments to
house all students who must rematn on campus during the intersesston fn Mahican Hall,
and will vastly simplify security, matntenance and cleaning problema during that perlod.
By Information copy of This report, the Plant Department Is notified that Itshas
responsibilities from here on for the maintenance and operation of the atorementioned
facilities. rc
