Yesterday there were three bid openings. Two were conducted by the
Office of General Services and one was conducted by the State University
Construction Fund. They are as follows:
Sitework Planting Project - there were four bidders on this Job
with base bids ranging from $138,000 to $197,000. The lowest
bidder was Lawns Beautiful, Poestenkill, New York, a competent
firm who has done other landscaping jobs for us before. Including
the alternates which will be added his bid totalled $158,000.
This will be comprised of rehabilitation of the lake, retaining
its natural beauty, checking of erosion, landscaping of Indian
Quadrangle, and the construction of a parking strip at Indian
Quadrangle. Work will be starting this summer and will be
completed wlth the planting season next spring.
Caulk Podium Joints in Chemistry, Physics, Biology Areas ~ two
bidders responded and again the low bidder was Lawns Beautiful.
He was within $2,000 of the estimated price and the Office of
General Services feels that the contract can be placed with him.
Work would start this summer and should be completed before winter
arrives.
Installation of New Heat Detectors, Pierce and Sayles Halls - this
Safety project had four bidders ranging from $17,000 +o $39,000.
The lowest bldder was Henzel Electric Company, Albany, New York.
The bld was within allocated funds and will be placed in a couple
of weeks. We expect the installation In the dormitory rooms to
be completed prior to the beginning of the Fall semester, Some
work outside of the dormitory rooms might be necessary during or
after September 1973.
