SUBJECT Campus Progress Report No. 198

Today bids were opened on a contract for the Repalr of Sidewalks
at the downtown campus. Three bidders responded, the lowest of which was
Callanan Industries of Albany, New York. His bid was $30,387, wellewithin
the previous cost estimate.

Accordingly, the Central Office has already directed 06S to place
the contract, which should be done In a matter of a week or two. If all
goes well, this Job should be started this summer and possibly completed
before the beginning of the Fall semester, or very shortly thereafter. We
are attempting to accelerator the project as much as possible.

This will eliminate some safety hazardswhich exist In the irregu«
larity of the sidewalks and which have glven us some cause for concern for
the safety of pedestrians.

Whiter M, Tisdale
Assistant to the President
for Planning & Development
