ees Progress Report No. 184
TOON enerator Ul=2b2

Today we Inspected and accepted the !00MBTY Generator which was In the
process of Installation during fast spring and summer. The Job was comploted by
Camplto Plumbing of Latham, New York in a highly satisfactory fashton. AL! con«
tractural obligations have been net save for a very small and inconsequential punch
fist, which the contractor has assured us will be completed next week, The Inspection
‘tour was accompanied by representatives of the Plant Cepartment, who have already had
Instructions and Indocrination on the heat generator, anc are completely sakistied
with Its acceptability and operation.

Only one step needs to be completed, ~ ji.e., for demonstration under full
load, which cannot be conducted unt!| cooler weather conditions are exper longed,
We will probably be able to do this sometime tn December or January.

The Installation of this, our fourth heat generator tn the Central Heating
Plant, was necessary because without It our present capability for heating was marginal
In extreme weather codditions and It would have been entirely Inadequate had we added
a Field House or a West Podium Extension. The Job was actually concelved primarily In
anticipation of the Field House and the West Podium Extonston, but was also considered
necessary In order to take care of coldest weather condition contingenctes even for
our existing campus. With it, we now have sufficient capacity, however, ‘to put on tine
at least our Annex "A" of 90,000 sq. ft. net, In case we aro fortunate enough to secure
It next Spring, or whenever.

Henceforward, maintenance and operation of the new generator wilt become the

responsibility of the Plant Department and by Information copy of this report, they are
30 notl fled.
