Today we Inspected and accepted the Washington Avenue Road Repair project
which was executed for us by the Office of General Services (06S). This was a
project which was corrective In nature and necess!tated by &be sinking of Washington
Avenue (State road) but within the city limits of Albany. Initially a large |ine
serving the University was Inserted under this road with a hydraulic Jet, In the
hope that excavation could be avolded, but the attempt to reft li the gap after the
{Ine was Inserted did not work out satisfactor|ly, and Washington Avenue took a
bad dip once the base settled.
Obviously the State was obliged to take corrective action and 06S was
appointed to do the Job. The Job was completed In record time. We are sure that the
road will hold up well, and the Clty of Albany will be péeased and well=served with
the completion of this task.
Callanan was the contractor and the cost to the State was $14,900. The
road Is again fully open to traffic, effective day before yesterday.
