Programs and Issues, 1970-1972, 1981-1986, 1989-2002 4.36 cubic ft.
This series is a subject file of materials related to the activities and interests of the OSP. Particularly well represented are some of the conflicts over proposed development, such as the building of a truck bypass and the High Rock golf course in Saratoga Spa State Park. Also included are materials from The Next Steps & Beyond forum and the mini-mall committee, which dealt with ways to develop the downtown Saratoga Springs area. Other issues include the move of the Saratoga Farmer's Market to High Rock Spring Park, the construction of the Saratoga National Golf Club and the Vote Yes! organization, a side project advocating the passage of a 2002 bond referendum to pay for the 2001 Environmental Parks and Open Area Protection Program. Extensive news clipping files are filed separately at the end of the series.
Saratoga Springs Open Space Project Records, 1970-2003 10.68 cubic ft.
Subject Files, 1973-1976, 1980-1982, 1987-2003, Undated 3.66 cubic ft.
This series contains subject files about various environmental, historical, and preservation topics affecting the Saratoga Springs region. These files were collected by Barbara Glaser in a separate filing cabinet and have a slightly broader range of subjects than the files in the Programs and Issues series. Nevertheless, there is a great deal of overlap and most of the topics can be found in both series, with this series mainly consisting of News Clippings and the Programs and Issues series having a more diverse assortment of materials. There may well have been some intermingling between the contents of these filing cabinets, as some of the files in this series, particularly those from The Next Steps & Beyond program, would seem to fit better in the Programs and Issues series.
Trails, 1986-2000, Undated 1.33 cubic ft.
The OSP is responsible for planning, organizing and frequently funding the construction of a number of trails in and around Saratoga Springs. These include nature trails like the Bog Meadow Brook Nature Trail, river trails like the Kayaderosseras Creek Canoe and Kayak Trail, and more urban trails such as the Bikeway recreational trail system. The materials in this series consist of maps, articles, correspondence, reports, and news clippings relating to the various trail building projects. Also represented are various OSP celebrations of National Trail Day. Extensive news clipping files are filed separately at the end of the series.
