The Executive Director files contain the material of past Executive Directors, plus Associate Directors and Interim Directors. It contains the bulk of the NYCLU organizational, advocacy and subject files, including legislative memorandum, reports, and materials relating to civil liberties issues locally and national campaigns.

The legal case files series spans from freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, and assembly, to privacy, to equality before and due process of law. The legal cases show the expansive service the NYCLU performs for underrepresented groups and person of New York State.

Similar in scope to the Executive Director series, this series contains materials related to the NYCLU's advocacy work, and was held by its legislative department. The series contains correspondence, reference materials, and legislative memos that reflect a wide range of topics such as privacy, juvenile justice, immigration, and discrimination.
