Personal and professional papers of German-speaking Émigré in the social sciences, humanities, and the arts and the organizations which assisted those who fled the Nazi regime.
In recognition of the serious scholarly interest in the mass migration of German speaking exiles from the Nazi regime, a German and Jewish Intellectual Émigré Collection was established in 1976 at the University at Albany, State University of New York. This growing collection has been developed since the 1970s through the efforts of the University Libraries and Professor John M. Spalek of the University's Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literature Department

The correspondence files span a period of over 70 years, with the bulk of the correspondence dating from the years 1933-1976. The correspondence has been arranged alphabetically within several categories: family, professional and general, students, politicians and public officials (U.S. and Germany), administrative and faculty members of the New School for Social Research, and organizational correspondence. The professional and general correspondence includes substantial amounts between Brecht and Julie Braun-Vogelstein, Jürgen Fehling, Carl Joachim (Achim) Friedrich, Kurt von Fritz, Ernest Hamburger, Ernest Hocking, Fritz Morstein-Marx and Gustav and Lydia Radbruch, as well as with former students Morris Forkosch and Alfred J. Jung. The collection also contains correspondence with the American statesman John Foster Dulles, as well as lengthy exchanges with German statesmen Otto Braun, Heinrich Brüning, Ferdinand Friedensburg and Theodor Heuss. The series also contains Brecht's correspondence with other members of the New School for Social Research, most notably with former New School Deans Alvin Johnson, Hans Simons and Hans Staudinger.

This series contains typescripts, proofs, handwritten and typed notes, a small amount of correspondence, clippings, exhibition catalogs, and photographs pertaining to lexicon, magazine and newspaper articles and book reviews written by Alfred Werner on artists and other personalities. Although most of the typescripts of the articles are Undated, they range from the early 1940s until Werner's death in 1979.
This series contains a nearly complete collection of Pribram's essayistic writings and reviews, as well as proofs and unbound versions of several of his books.

The Writings, 1923-1972, are organized in two parts Subseries A: Writings by Rabinowitch and Subseries B: Writings by Others. Material within the files is arranged chronologically by year, month, and day. Partially dated material is placed at the end of the month or year; undated items are placed after dated material.
The Writings by Rabinowitch files date primarily from the 1960s. The files are arranged alphabetically by title or subject and contain correspondence, editorial letters, lecture notes, speeches, book reviews, royalty statements, typescript drafts, biographies, reprints, galley proofs, radio broadcast script, journals, and clippings. The files relate to Rabinowitch's books such as The Atomic Age, The Dawn of a New Age, Minutes to Midnight, and Photosynthesis. There are also files concerning Rabinowitch's numerous articles in scientific journals on the subject of photosynthesis. There are notes for and copies of speeches delivered by Rabinowitch. There are also files concerning articles and editorials which Rabinowitch prepared for publication in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. In addition there are files relating to works translated by Rabinowitch from English to German or from German to Russian.
