The New York State Modern Political Archive (NYSMPA) was established in 1982 to document the work of individuals and private interest groups concerned with New York State public policy issues in the 20th century. Originally named the Archives of Public Affairs and Policy, the NYSMPA collects, preserves, and facilitates access to primary sources pertaining to New York State public affairs and policy, and now includes the personal papers of members of the gubernatorial administrations of Nelson A. Rockefeller; papers of former New York Congressional members and elected officials who served in New York State Legislature; and the official records and papers of numerous private groups, professional associations, individuals, public-sector labor unions, community groups, and other organizations concerned with Empire State public-policy issues.

Minutes of the proceedings of UUP's Executive Board, the body authorized to carry out policies established by the Delegate Assembly and execute written agreements on behalf of UUP. The Board meetings consist of reports by committee chairpersons and officers and the consideration of a variety of resolutions and motions reflecting a concern with a broad range of institutional, social, and political issues. Lists of committee appointments, committee and task force membership lists, and income and expenditure reports for the union are intermittently included. The Board is required to meet at least four times each year, but from the beginning it has met approximately five to ten times annually. This series includes documents describing the daily business of the AHP and CAHFC. It includes the agendas, minutes, and resolutions for the AHP and CAHFC. This series is further broken down by the Boards of Directors of the AHP and CAHFC; the Joint Boards of Directors of the AHP and CAHFC; the Executive Committee and Policy Committee of the AHP; various other sub-committee of the AHP; and other housing organizations affiliated with the AHP.

This series focuses on Ed Bloch's military involvement during World War II, with material dating from 1942 to 1972. It includes files on World War II related activities, correspondence, news clippings, poetry, essays, short stories, papers, and miscellaneous files. Most of the material comes from the 1940s, with articles recalling Bloch's World War II experiences written in the 1970s and a book commemorating the 1996 reunion of the Special Officer Candidate School which Bloch attended.

This series contains one annual report as well as sparse meeting minutes. The many handwritten notes in this series illustrate how the committee chose and then ranked their lecturers and topics. A brief biography of the many lecturers can also be found in this series. Among the biographies are those of human rights advocate Dick Gregory and consumer advocate Ralph Nader.

This series contains bills introduced by Ernest Hatfield or ones he wanted to amend, correspondence related to bills, the State Commission on Historic Observances Historic Observances and related correspondence, and legislative transcripts. Items that may be of interest to researchers are Hatfield's attempts to raise funds and garner support to build the Beacon-Newburgh Bridge, the Chiropractor bill which supported recognizing the chiropractic profession, and the Social Security bill in the Civil Service Law which opposed the government in separating Social Security benefits from pension of retired civil service employees.

Series 3 contains the records of the UTA's founding and its organizational structure. This series includes the by-laws, certificates of incorporation, and mission statement of the UTA, a partial run of the UTA's newsletter, press releases, fliers and news clippings and the UTA's financial information. It also contains memorabilia marking the UTA's 25th anniversary. These mementos include a t-shirt, a tote bag and a button.
