Series 3 contains correspondence, memos, pamphlets, receipts, and related materials concerning the union, GE, and community issues. The series contains material related to the financial organization of the union and to the strikes of the 1940s, 1960s, and 1980s as well. All strike materials are located in this series with some exceptions. News clippings appear in this series, while full newspapers of are found in Series 5.

This series contains a collection of subject files concerning topics important to the UTA. The Affordable Housing subject file includes information regarding the funding and availability of affordable housing in Albany. It has minutes and agendas from the meetings of the Affordable Housing Coalition and other housing organizations, correspondence concerning the need for funding of affordable housing, clippings and press releases on low-income housing, newsletters on housing issues and the Ad Hoc Committee on Housing Statement on Housing and Action Plan.

This series consists of material related to the Capital District Gay and Lesbian Community Council (CDGLCC). It consists primarily of an extensive run of the Council's monthly periodical, Community, which is partial from 1982-1991 and 2001-2003 and complete from 1992-2000. (Note that several issues from the years 1999-2000 are housed in an oversized box at the end of the series.) The series also includes fliers and programs for events held by the Council, news clippings related to the Council and its members, a small assortment of administrative files, and issues of the Council's quarterly member newsletter, MemberNews.

Minutes of the proceedings of the Delegate Assembly, the primary policy-making body of UUP. The minutes reflect the concerns and activities of UUP in the most concise and comprehensive form, because it is in the forum where various chapters from around the state meet to voice local concerns and discuss and vote on policy matters. The Delegate Assembly meets three times during each academic year-Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Correspondence was sent from Family Planning Advocates of New York State to various organizations and individuals: affiliates and field operators, the Governor of New York State, legislators, and editors of newspapers. Also included is correspondence between the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, general letters to the membership, letters to presidents of other Family Planning Advocates organizations, letters to physicians connected to public health services organizations, members of the clergy, and press releases. All correspondence is typed and on letterhead and is representative of the communication sent by Family Planning Advocates of New York State to others; little of the correspondence represents what the organization received. Administrative records including Board and Executive Committee meeting minutes and other materials, particularly from the late 1980s-2000, are also interfiled with correspondence as those documents were mailed to the relevant constituencies.

This series includes meeting minutes and agenda, including meeting notices, sign-in sheets for meetings, and notes.

The major items in this series are an unpublished essay by Miles on his years at HEW, published articles and other materials that resulted from his receiving the Rockefeller Public Service Award (1956), other published articles, speeches, materials concerning Miles' deputy James F. Kelly, items related to the polio vaccination campaign in the 1950s and a official trip to India in 1961, copies of correspondence and memoranda, photographs. This series also contains Miles' proposal for a reorganization of HEW (1965) as well as personal notes, and other letters, signed by Secretaries Hobby, Folsom, Fleming, Richardson and Under Secretary Nelson A. Rockefeller.

The majority of the documents in this series originated from meetings and activities conducted by the executive committee alone or in conjunction with the officers and members of the individual school branches. However, there is one folder of central school reports that preferably should have been filed in the specific series for those schools (ie. Buffalo organizing reports in the Buffalo series), but they are physically attached so that one school’s report ends and the next begins on the same page. Those few documents are therefore filed together in this series. Executive committee meetings seemed to be held at various locations around the state and it was not always clear whether material originated from executive action or steering committee action; therefore there may be executive material filed in the school series and vice versa. Other papers clearly belong either to GSEU school chapters or to the statewide executive committee and are filed accordingly. This series has many folders of meeting minutes and correspondence, but is supplemented by material on how to organize/mobilize, delegate assemblies, and steward information.
