Manuscripts, 1789-2003 9.8 cubic ft.

Series 1 contains materials Dr. Blanchard published while at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and the State University of New York at Albany as well as after his retirement. The topics covered by these publications include the history of science, water-to-air transfer, aerobiology, sea salt aerosols, volcanic electricity, and surface charge. There are also materials covering his studies of bubbles, water droplets, and rain. Along with his scientific publications, Dr. Blanchard also wrote letters to editors, comments and replies to articles, book reviews, obituaries, and autobiographical articles. Dr. Blanchard published materials from the early 1950s to the early 2000s but the majority of materials in are from 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Series 2 documents the research Dr. Blanchard conducted while he was working at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and the State University of New York at Albany. The work that he did while at General Electric is mentioned but not specifically covered. The main focus of Dr. Blanchards research was on the nature of bubbles and water drops but he also conduct studies on volcanic electricity and its effects. To conduct this research, he travelled throughout the Northeast and Hawaii. Along with the research he did in the United States, Dr. Blanchard also traveled internationally to collected data. A large part of his international research was done around Surtsey Volcano in Iceland.

Series 3 focus on Dr. Blanchards personal and professional correspondence while he was working professionally as well as when he retired. The majority of correspondence was exchanged between Dr. Blanchard and his colleagues and discusses manuscripts or research. The series contains handwritten and typed letters, postcards, manuscripts, newspaper clippings, journal articles, brochures, memos, handwritten notes, figures, photographs, and reports. Please note that not all of the files contain correspondence directly between Dr. Blanchard and the person the folder is named after. Some folders contain letters sent to Dr. Blanchard from the persons family members or letters sent to that person from another source.

The Jennie D. Lindquist papers document the professional life of Lindquist, an editor, author, lecturer, and librarian. The collection is cheifly composed of copies of personal correspondances, printed materials, transcripts from her radio program, and an advanced publisher's copy of her book.

The Student Association Records contains records documenting the proceedings of the UAlbany Student Association from its inception in 1921 to 2020. This collection contains records that relate to the changing duties, functions, and governmental structure of the Student Association.

The earliest minutes date from the formation of the Student Association in 1921. They document the Student Association's interest in establishing and maintaining school traditions (1920's and 30's), the Student Association's concern with academic issues such as the establishment of the honor system. These documents give an overview of the management of the organization, and document the Student Association structural change.

The Central Council Bills are complete for the period from 1965 to 2013. Bills from 2019-2020 are also available, but there is a gap between 2013 and 2019 where records were not transferred from the Student Association. This series contains bills passed by the Central Council which is the legislative body of the student government. The bill relate to appropriations, budgets, recognition of student organizations, resolutions relating to local, state, national and international issues, student government reorganizations. The bills dating from 1978-79 to 1988-1989 are bound and indexed from 1978-1979 through 1985-1986. The bills dating from 2019-2020 are born-digital.

The Student Association gained the permission of the Administration to publish surveys of courses and teachers which are available to the students so that they could make more informed decisions in choosing their courses. The collection is incomplete, and while the faculty evaluations from the 1970's appear to be comprehensive, those from the 1980's and 1990's only publish ratings of a few courses where the faculty has given permission to publish.

There is no documentation of the organization's initial years of existence, but significant material about administration, meetings, membership, agreements, publications, and organizational history.

The Records of Resolution or Motion series is a compilation of the proposals made at various organizational meetings between 1961 and 1966. Although the majority of the records are from one decade, there is a considerable amount of information within the series as the issues raised during the meetings varied widely. This information could be used to study the organization's development during the 1960s as that time period saw radical changes in New York State labor policy.

The Legal and Administrative files on reels contain various records pertaining to the political, legal, and administrative aspects of the CSEA. These records include the agreements between CSEA and New York State and its various units, collective bargaining agreements, and the meeting minutes of the Legal Committee. The reels also include model constitutions and by-laws, department head minutes and reports, and Political Action Fund meeting information.

Committees, 1938-1995 4 cubic ft.

This series contains correspondence, agendas, and meeting minutes arranged by committee. These dates are not inclusive. Most of the early committee files (1938-1960) were not arranged by committee but were filed simply under the title "Committees". From the 1970's on, they are organized by type of committee. The types of records within these folders are representative of all facets of work that the NYPWA has been involved in. Types of committees include Executive, Legislative, Program, Time and Place, Nominating, Audit, Entertainment, Partnership, Income Maintenance, Attorney and Legal, Medical Assistance, Mental Hygiene, Adult and Children, Fiscal, Services, Systems, Professional Development, PC User, and Disaster Preparedness. The largest committee file is the Legislative Committee. These records contain legislative proposals, legal acts, and bills.

Correspondence contained in this series deal with meeting and program planning, special events and meetings, invitations to speakers, letters of acceptance, preparations for meetings, as well as some meeting minutes. The NYPWA corresponded with all county social services offices and related officials. These dates are not inclusive as this series does not represent the only correspondence contained in the collection. Correspondence are represented in every series.

Meetings, 1953-2001 3.0 cubic ft.

This series consists of minutes, summaries of proceedings, and a subject index. The majority of the series covers Faculty Senate meetings from the first meeting in 1953 through 1998. The meeting minutes contain information on the appointment of University Representatives by President Carlson during the first meeting, the drafting of the original proposed By-laws, and the development of different instructional programs. The minutes include copies of committee reports. The minutes also show the effect that the Taylor Law of 1967 had on the University Faculty Senate.

Steven Hawkins Papers, 1991-2003

Records of Steven W. Hawkins's tenure as Executive Director of the National Coalition Against the Death Penalty. The papers include extensive minutes of board meetings, speeches, travel arrangements, fundraising and reception notes, and pamphlets and other papers relating to his attendance at various board and committee meetings with related organizations.

This series includes extensive minutes of board meetings, speeches, fundraising, correspondence, notes, pamphlets, biographies of speakers, and other papers relating to Hawkins' attendance at various board and committee meetings, rallies, and conferences Hawkins attended as Executive Director of the National Coalition Against the Death Penalty. These events were sponsored by related institutional, regional, national, and international organizations such as law schools, New Yorkers Against the Death Penalty, the Death Penalty Information Center, Amnesty International, and many others. This series contains police files, amicus briefs, court briefs, witness testimony, memoranda between defense attorneys and prosecuting attorneys, and biographical information pertaining to death row inmates. It also includes memos and notes relating to the actions taken on behalf of these persons by Steven Hawkins and other members of the National Coalition Against the Death Penalty. The inmates included in this series are Mumia Abu-Jamal, Delma Banks, Jr., Wilburn Dobbs, Reginald Clemons, Clarence Allen Lackey, T. Makawanyane and Mchunu, Kenneth Reams and Keith Versie.
