This subseries contains lecture notes handwritten by Ernest van den Haag on yellow legal size paper. This paper is very acidic and brittle. Van den Haag lectured on sociology and psychology while at the New School for Social Research from 1953 to 1980. The courses include Philosophy of Personality, The Individual in Crisis, and Popular Culture. his lectures touched on many topics in social science including democracy, postulates, and many aspects of American culture. Some materials contained in this subseries were collected in the years leading up to his lecture career including the 1930s and 1940s, but most of the lecture material is from the early 1950s through 1981.

This series contains early publications by Brecht during his years in the Reich Ministries and the Reich Chancellry, as well as manuscript material to his later publications. The bulk of this sub-series is comprised of materials dealing with his major publication, Political Theory: The Foundations of Twentieth Century Political Thought, first published in 1959 in English, reprinted editions, and the translation into German. This includes text materials, reviews and correspondence between Brecht and his publishers.

This subseries contains letters written to Paetel in response to his article entitled "Freunde im Ausland," published in the German newspaper Die Zeit (19 June 1947), and reprinted in Union Flchtlingsdient (September 1947), in which Paetel asked readers to write to him with descriptions of conditions in post-war Germany. Paetel later published many of the responses in issues of Deutsche Gegenwart.

In February 1979 and February 1980, the Review Panel conducted staffing audits of Willowbrook and related facilities to determine if the staff-to-resident ratios required by the Consent Decree were being maintained. For a period of one week, data on staff members signed in for each shift was collected. Ratios of both direct care and supervisory staff were calculated. This series contains data collected from Willowbrook and several related facilities, rough drafts of a report, final compliance reports, and correspondence related to the staffing audits.
