This series contains Brecht's contributions to newspapers and periodicals, as well as individual chapters in books. Included in this series are early writings in German, including several literary pieces. Although many of the typescripts are present only in photocopies, original newspaper and magazine clippings or reprints of the majority of published pieces are present in this series.

Incoming and outgoing correspondence from UUP's President, Executive Director, and other UUP personnel; as well as internal correspondence between the President, Executive Director, membership coordinator, and NYSUT legal counsel. Materials were filed by chapter involved, under individual name (relating to grievance matters, and also for UUP personnel matters), and occasionally by subject. Topics covered include retrenchments on campuses; appointments to and resignations from committees; campus specific concerns; grievances; questions from members regarding benefits and membership; resolutions sent in by chapters; minutes for chapter board meetings as well as chapter labor/management meetings; and information on chapter officers. The amount and type of information available for each chapter varies widely. Additional records on individual chapters make up Subseries 3.3 in Subgroup IV, Office of the Secretary. Agency fee issues and the separation of UUP from NEA are infrequent topics of discussion. The records for the Grievance Committee in this series include reports to the President presenting the committee's position on/view of the grievances under its consideration. These reports provide some of the most detailed information available regarding the issues that UUP has sought to remedy through grievances on behalf of its bargaining unit members.

This subseries includes correspondence, handwritten notes, forms, schedules, bills, financial records. Performers and presenters files consist of biographies, correspondence, contracts, riders, and technical specifications.

The Schaefer subject files are a collection of brochures, notes, and other ephemera that have enduring value but do not belong in other categories such as cloud seeding or snow and ice research. These files include research notes from sources other than General Electric; scientists and entrepreneurs frequently exchanged results of their work with one another, but to avoid confusion, the work of Schaefer and other G.E. scientists can be found in the next subseries while informal research notes and observations by others are located here.

The Miscellaneous subseries is primarily composed of legislative activity collected weekly by Environmental Advocates. Also of interest in this subseries is the material related to Citizen Suits.

This subseries contains readings from 1993-1997 authored by professors from various universities addressed to members of colloquiums at New York University School of Law. These readings are entitled Colloquium on Constitutional Theory and Colloquium on the Study of Law, Philosophy, and Social Theory. These readings are arranged alphabetically by title and chronologically thereafter by semester and year. It is not clear what role van den Haag had in these colloquiums, but at this time, he was Adjunct Professor of Social Philosophy at the New York University School of Law.

This series consists of files on audits conducted at psychiatric centers where former Willowbrook residents were receiving care. The purpose of the audit was to determine whether the residents' needs for educational and recreational programs were being met according to the terms of the Consent Decree.

This subseries contains some documents related to van den Haag's position as John M. Olin Professor of Jurisprudence and Public Policy at Fordham University from 1982-1988. There is a Fordham Bulletin, course descriptions and schedules, and grant contract expenditure reports. The Olin Lecture material is correspondence related to van den Haag's duties in setting up a speaker for the John M. Olin Lecture in 1983.
