The Subject Files contain material related to SUNY organizations, institutions, personnel, and activities, as well as Board activities and responsibilities. The earliest item in the series is from 1969. There is some material regarding a proposed 1976 SUNY/CUNY merger. Files contain reports and correspondence related to this issue and financial concerns for both SUNY and CUNY. However the bulk of materials begin in 1977. The files include correspondence, reports, memorandum, and news clippings. There are a number of files on Chancellor Clifton Wharton Jr., the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU), the Independent Commission on the Future of SUNY, and SUNY/CUNY relations.

This series consists of publications about SUNY. Topics include the cost of higher education, SUNY's history, the Nelson A. Rockefeller School of Government, and other related matters. Any material related to a report, such as correspondence, is identified in the folder title.

This series contains records related to problem-solving activity on behalf of Senator Stafford's constituents. Each year, Senator Stafford's office received numerous letters from constituents asking for help with various problems. A typical case file consists of the constituent's letter, attached supporting material, and notes on the action taken to resolve the problem. The casework for each year is typically grouped under the file name General Casework with larger cases belonging in their own, separate folder. Cases are arranged chronologically by year.

This series contains a large amount of photographs taken during Senator Ronald Stafford's time in office. Senator Stafford can be seen with school groups, organizations such as 4-H, and other legislators. Some files also contain the letter sent along with the photographs. This series contains photographs of identified groups or individuals as well as unidentified ones. Photographs of identifiable events were each given their own folders. Headshots of Senator Stafford and negatives of photographs are also included.

This series contains press and photo releases issued by Senator Ronald Stafford's office. The majority of releases date from the years 1978-1981. There are also newsclippings from the 1970s.

The Nuremberg subseries includes the author's research material, manuscript drafts, correspondence, and promotion for each of the book's editions. Material related to the History Channel documentary Nuremberg: Tyranny on Trial and the TNT television miniseries Nuremberg is also included in this subseries. Note that material related to Persico's promotion of both TNT's Nuremberg and the reissued paperback edition of the book are included in the folder of promotional records for 2000-2001. The Writings subseries includes scripts for the History Channel documentaries "Piercing the Reich: The Deadly Deceivers" and "Nuremberg: Tyranny on Trial" in the "Documentaries, Narration" folder.

Paper records including programs from Delegate Assemblies, contract booklets, pocket calendars, universitas [scholarly journal type of publication], and various brochures, advertisements, bumper stickers, and publications. Non-paper records include lapel pins, delegate name badges, legislative giveaways, buttons, t-shirts, canvas bags, and other three-dimensional artifacts. Some of the paper records in this series, such as the Delegate Assembly programs and contract booklets, duplicate the materials found in the respective series within Subgroup IV, Office of the Secretary, and Subgroup VI, Labor Relations--Negotiations. There is also some overlap between the materials in this series and those in Series 3 of this Subgroup, "Publications". This series also includes oversized versions of some of the legislative ad campaigns in Subseries 3.1.
