Howard Hughes Foundation grants University $1.2 million to strengthen undergraduate education in the sciences and encourage minorities and women to consider a career in the sciences. Among the activities the grant will fund is the hiring of a faculty member in computational biology, the upgrading of labs and the hiring of a lab coordinator, and the establish- ing of a science special interest residence hall with science programing.
