University Enters First Of Its Kind In The Country Agreement to Provide Rural Optometrists

University entering first of its kind in the country agreement with the SUNY College of Optometry in Manhattan and the College of Agriculture and Technology in Cobleskill to recruit rural high school scholars to enter an optometry career track. Students will pursue an Associate of Science degree from Cobleskill as freshman, and, if they maintain a 3.3 average, will be eligible to UAlbany after their sophomore year to complete the B.S. degree. The last four years of the program will be spent at the College of Optometry where they will earn a Doctor of Optometry degree. At least two places will be reserved for these students at UAlbany. The program is aimed at improving rural healthcare.
