University Awarded $875,000 To Serve As Headquarters For Eastnet

1996

University awarded $875,000 to serve as headquarters for EASTNET: Distance Learning for SUNY in Eastern New York. The infrastructure for the network will be located at the University which will assist us in linking the Uptown, Downtown and East (now the Health Sciences) Campuses as well as the Center for Environmental Science and Technology Management (CESTM). The network will enable the University to deliver distance education to students who live too far away to commute, especially during inclement weather. The network will also allow all SUNY campuses to share faculty expertise. The School of Social Welfare, the School of Education and the Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages will all be participants in the initial program.
