The Science, Technology Entry Program To Provide Urban Middle School Students With Access To Technology

The Science, Technology Entry Program (STEP), instituted in 1985, to provide urban middle school students with access to technology to get them hooked on mathematics and science, funded by the State Education Department, was re- funded after a lapse in funding of a year. The University received $96,000 to restart the STEP program. Joseph Bowman Jr. of the School of Education leads the program. In it, University graduate students are teaching technology-based programs in the after-school program at Albany middle schools.
