University Signed A New Enhanced Partnership With The National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration Creating The Noaa University At Albany Cooperative Institute For The Prediction Of Hydrometeorolical Hazards In The Northeastern United States

Announcement that UAlbany has signed a new enhanced partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) creating the NOAA-University at Albany Cooperative Institute for the Prediction of Hydrometeorological Hazards in the Northeastern United States. The formal title of the unit is the Cooperative Institute at the University at Albany. The Institute provides National Weather Service Staff with professional development opportunities, improved forecasting, and a philosophical outlook toward weather forecasting that joins research to operational concerns. UAlbany receives internship opportunities for its students, the possibility of enhanced external funding, and enhanced links to government and industry. The Institute will be headed by Professor Donald Keyser of the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and Eugene P. Auciello, meteorologist-in-charge of the National Weather Service forecast office.
