Atmospheric Sciences Research Center Awarded $3.5 Million To Study The Causes, Make Up And Health Effects Of Atmospheric Pollutants In Nyc

Announcement that the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC) has been awarded $3.5 million from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to study the causes, make-up and health effects of atmospheric pollutants in New York City. ASRC Director Kenneth Demerjian is the principal investigator. In addition to ASRC researchers, researchers from the New York State Department of Conservation, the State Department of Health, Clarkson University, Penn State University, and the Brookhaven National Laboratories will collaborate on the project. The project will measure "PM2.5" pollutants--small particles less than 2.5 microns at three sites in New York City, Whiteface Mountain and Pinnacle State Park.
