Anonymous Gift Of $50,000 Supported Faculty Exchange Program With The University Of Sophia In Bulgaria

An anonymous gift of $50,000 supported the University's eight-year old faculty exchange program with the University of Sophia in Bulgaria. The gift will bring UAlbany faculty to Sophia for teaching and research and vice versa. It is hoped by Ernest Scatton of the Department of Anthropology and his partner Sofia University Professor and Chair of English and American Studies Alexander Shurbanov that this initial gift will lead to more gifts and a permanent endowment. UAlbany and the University of Sophia will provide housing to the visiting faculty.
