Governor John Young Approves "An Act For The Permanent Establishment Of The Normal School"

1848 April

A sum of $15,000 was appropriated for the building of a permanent Normal School building at the corner of Lodge and Howard Streets. The following year the State appropriated another $10,000 to complete the building and a further $3,500 for furnishings. The main entrance of the building faced Lodge Street.
